The Fat, Tallow, or Lard from the rendering process is generally the highest-value product and needs to be treated that way throughout the process. Depending on the raw materials and how they are received, fat or oil can be of high quality and can be marketed for a variety of final products ranging from Animal Feed to cosmetics. Regardless of the end-use, rendering fat will require a "refining" process to remove both solids and moisture.
Alloy recommends the use of a Vibratory Screen for rapid reduction in solids content followed by a Decanter or Tricantere centrifuge and perhaps followed by either a Separator/Polisher Centrifuge or Filter Press depending on your market requirements.
VIBRATORY SCREENS
These flexible machines are used for everything from Dewatering of materials, to the Separation of solids from liquids, including fats and oils, to the sizing of the finished meal before or after hammermilling.
Alloy can help you chose the right machine with the proper number of decks to meet your separation objectives. Give the Applications Group a call and let's sort it out together.
Decanter Centrifuges have been, and remain, the workhorses of the rendering industry for the separation of solids from liquids. There are multiple manufacturers and even more companies who rebuild them. Alloy works GRATT on new machines offering world-class solutions at affordable investments. Please call to discuss your specific needs.
Filter Presses have come a long way in the past few years. back in the day of manual machines they had a reputation of being labor intensive and often creating a mess on the operating floor, but today they are efficient, clean machines that produce the absoute finest finished fats and oils.
They may also ofter required to meet todays specifications for beef tallow.
VERTICAL SEPARATOR/POLISHER
Decanters or even horizontal Tri-canters may not get you the finished product quality to maximize the value of your fats and oils. Vertical Separators/Polishers are designed to remove virtually all solids and moisture leaving fats and oils that a 99.8% pure.
